The collection of data referring to persons imposed according to expenditure (“globalists”) takes place every two years. This information, presented below in comparison with the years 2016 and 2018, includes the number of cases and the total tax revenue in millions of francs, broken down into cantonal, municipal and federal taxes.

Globalists domiciled in Ticino amounted to 910 units as of 31.12.2016, 842 units as of 31.12.2018 and 896 units as of 31.12.2020. Globalists' liability to income and wealth taxes generated overall tax revenues of 118 million francs in 2016, including 143.2 million francs in 2018, taking into account cantonal tax, municipal tax and direct federal tax. and for 157.8 million francs for 2020. In 2020, compared to 2018, there is an increase in the number of cases and revenue. However, it is difficult to spot trends, which could be misleading and premature.
